UBC Library United Way Spelling Bee

After a two year hiatus we are pleased to announce the return of the UBC Library United Way Spelling Bee

This is an event for UBC students, staff, faculty and emeritus – words vary in difficulty and may include some Musqueam words found around campus.

Important to note: This is not a traditional Spelling Bee – this is a group spelling challenge with no individual spellers. Teams work together at their tables to come up with the correct answer and then marks their sheet together. Only in the event of a tie-breaker will one player be asked to come forward in a traditional spell-off.

Once again we are offering an exciting opportunity for teams to earn points. If a team has three or more members who have signed up for payroll donation to the United Way please email proof to Stacy Campbell and your team will earn 2 bonus points – this may give you edge that you need!

Return with your team again this year, or feel free to form a new team (4 – 10 people) to compete for the United Way Cup of Knowledge. The winning team will have their team name engraved on our prestigious award trophy along with your photo displayed prominently in the display case inside the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre for the entire year!

To register your team fill out the form at the link below by October 7th. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and there is only room for 20 teams, so don’t delay!
